2008-2009 Fixtures, Results and Goalscorers


Please note that although matches are scheduled for Sundays fixture dates and kick-off times may change due to television and other demands. Often they are changed to Saturdays and kick off times vary from noon through to mid-evening.   Definite times are usually only known about a week beforehand and should be checked locally or on the Marca website nearer the time of the game.

The Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup) is played in a different format from the FA Cup.  As a Segunda División team we entered in round two and the Primera División teams join at later stages depending on whether or not they appear in european competitions but the teams who start the first round are selected by a different format each year.  The details of our appearances in the competition this year appear in purple below - unfortunately we were eliminated in the third round and so will not appear in the final which is due to be played on Wednesday 13th May.

Matches I watch live will be numbered in blue.   When the league position has ?? after it this is provisional depending on other games to be played later in the weekend.  When a time for the game is given this will be the time at the venue (mainland Spain or Tenerife time which is an hour behind the mainland and the same as in Great Britain).

A new feature this year is a link to YouTube videos of the goals where available - just click on the names of goalscorers and I have also started to list the goal sequence and attendance at each match.

Los Cristianos and Playa de Las Américas against local rivals which kept our record of not conceding in the pre-season Our goals were scored at the beginning and end by Cristo Marrero (2m) and Alfaro (87m).
10/08/2008 Athletic de Bilbao Estadio Municipal Los Cuartos, Orotova 3-1 the first real test of our team with a game for the "Trofeo Teide" against the basque team who are the only one other than Barcelona and Real Madrid never to be relegated from the Primera División ended with us winning after they equalised an early Nino goal in the 36th minute. Our goals came from Nino (10m, 63m) and Óscar Pérez (54m) - see them by clicking here
14/08/2008 Valladolid Pablo Cáceres, Valladolid 2-0 away game against another Primera División team which resulted in our first defeat of the pre-season. The Valladolid goals came in the 42nd and 90th minutes.  Clavero and Manolo Martínez received yellow cards in a game which our opponents deserved to win.
17/08/2008 Universidad Las Palmas Francisco Peraza, La Laguna 3-2 friendly against a Canarian rival who have been in our division in recent years  during which we were twice behind but eventually triumphed through goals by Richi (28m) on his Tenerife debut, Cristo Martín (42m) and  Ricardo (82m).

20/08/2008 Fuerteventura Tiscamanita, Fuerteventura 0-2 away game in Fuerteventura for the Trofeo TFV agaisnt rivals from Segunda B División which was won through goals from Richi (19m), his second in his first two games for us and Alfaro (90m) in the first minute of injury time.
23/08/2008 Roda JC Heliodoro 3-0 "Presentation" game at which the team were officially revealed
followed by a match against Dutch rivals. In form Nino (24m) opened the scoring followed by Juanma (69m) and Ezequiel Luna (76m). The goals can be seen by clicking here.
